How much is driveway cleaning in Redhill, and can you come today?

The short answer: driveway cleaning in Redhill (RH1) starts at £4 per square metre for tarmac and concrete, £5 for block paving, so most 50m² double drives land between £200 and £300, £80 minimum. Same Day JetWash is based in Redhill, same-day and next-day slots, callback inside 2 hours. Call 01737 652 515.

Driveway cleaning means pre-treating the moss and algae, machine-washing the whole surface with a rotary surface cleaner, hand-lancing the edges, then dealing with the aftermath: weeds out, joints re-sanded with kiln dried sand on block paving, slurry cleared, everything bagged and taken away. That last bit is the difference between a proper job and a wet mess on your verge.

Key facts: driveway cleaning in Redhill (RH1)

  • From £4/m² for tarmac and concrete, from £5/m² for block paving, in line with our published price list. £80 minimum charge.
  • Re-sanding with kiln dried sand is included on every block paving clean, never an extra.
  • Heavy moss or years of neglect can add up to 50%, the same uplift our cost calculator uses.
  • Redhill sits on the damp floor of the Vale of Holmesdale, between the North Downs Chalk and the Lower Greensand ridge, mapped by the British Geological Survey[1], so RH1 drives green over faster than the chalk up the hill.
  • No hosepipe ban here: SES Water, which supplies RH1, has no ban in place as of 2 July 2026. Full rules in our hosepipe ban guide.

Block paving, tarmac, concrete and resin drives in Redhill

Redhill sits on the floor of the Vale of Holmesdale, the low corridor between the North Downs Chalk and the Lower Greensand ridge, a boundary the British Geological Survey maps straight through the town[1]. Valley-floor air holds its damp, and damp is what algae and moss want. Drive up onto the chalk at Banstead and driveways stay drier for longer; down here the shaded half of a drive greens over first, every time. What that means for each surface:

  • Block paving on the estates. Merstham, Salfords and the newer RH1 developments are wall-to-wall block paving. The joints are the weak point: sand washes out, weeds and moss move in, and the whole drive looks tired even where the bricks are sound. We wash, kill the weeds and re-sand with kiln dried sand as standard. More on the surface itself on our block paving cleaning page.
  • Concrete and tarmac on the older streets. The Victorian terraces off Redstone Hill and the streets near the station mostly have small concrete or tarmac forecourts. Quick jobs, usually at or near the £80 minimum, and the difference between grey-black and actually-its-original-colour is startling.
  • Resin-bound drives. A few of the newer builds have resin. It cleans up well but hates high pressure up close, the binder can scar, so we run lower pressure and more chemistry. We price these on a photo or a quick look first.
  • Sloped drives on the hill. Redhill isn’t flat. The drives climbing Redstone Hill drain fast on the top half and hold water at the bottom, so the moss concentrates in a band near the pavement. Normal, and it comes off the same.

What’s included in a Redhill driveway clean

  1. Walk the drive first. Surface, condition, drainage, oil stains, anything loose or cracked. If a repair is what you actually need, we say so rather than wash over the problem.
  2. Pre-treat. Moss and algae get a sodium hypochlorite treatment before the water goes anywhere near it. The dilution and dwell time do the work, not brute pressure.
  3. Machine wash. Rotary surface cleaner across the field of the drive for an even, stripe-free finish, then the lance for edges, corners and the awkward bits by the garage door.
  4. Weeds and joints. Weeds cleared from the joints, and on block paving we re-sand with kiln dried sand once the surface has dried off. Included, always.
  5. Tidy up. Slurry and debris bagged and taken away, paths and gullies rinsed down. We leave the drive clean and the rest of the frontage no worse than we found it.

Optional extras, priced honestly: oil stain treatment (some stains never fully lift from concrete, we’ll tell you before we start, and our oil stain guide shows what’s realistic) and sealing after the clean. Half of Surrey drives don’t need sealing at all, so we’ll only quote it where it earns its keep.

Streets and neighbourhoods we cover

All of RH1 is home turf: central Redhill, Merstham, Salfords, Earlswood, Nutfield and South Nutfield, from the terraces off Redstone Hill to the estates along the Brighton Road corridor. Next door, Reigate and the rest of Surrey within 20 miles. See everything we clean in Redhill, and while we’re at your place it’s worth bundling, gutters, roof, render soft washing or windows on the same visit is cheaper than two callouts.

Why driveway quotes vary

Two Redhill drives the same size can be £100 apart, and the reasons are boring but real: surface type, condition, access, and whether re-sanding or sealing is in scope. Anyone quoting a flat “any driveway £60” is cutting one of those corners, the maths doesn’t work otherwise, and we’ve set out the full cost build-up in our UK driveway cleaning cost guide. If your drive only needs doing every couple of years, that’s what we’ll tell you, there’s more on timing in how often to clean a driveway.

Can you do same-day driveway cleaning in Redhill?

Often, yes, because we’re actually here. We’re a 2-man crew based in Redhill, not a national platform sub-contracting your job to whoever’s free in Croydon. Selling the house and the agent’s photographer is booked for Friday? Call early and there’s a fair chance we fit you in today or tomorrow. Worst case, callback within two hours, Sundays included. Call 01737 652 515 and we’ll tell you honestly what we can do.

Redhill driveway cleaning FAQs

Most-asked questions from RH1 customers.

How much does driveway cleaning cost in Redhill?

Tarmac and concrete drives are from £4 per square metre and block paving is from £5, with an £80 minimum charge. Most Redhill double drives land between £200 and £300, and re-sanding the joints is included on block paving, never an extra. Heavy moss or years of neglect can add up to 50%. Free quote, no obligation.

Do you cover Merstham and Salfords for driveway cleaning?

Yes, every postcode in RH1: central Redhill, Merstham, Salfords, Earlswood, Nutfield and South Nutfield. Patrick is based in Redhill, so your drive is on our home patch. We also cover Reigate (RH2), Horley (RH6) and the rest of Surrey within 20 miles.

How long does cleaning a 50 square metre drive take?

Two to three hours for most Redhill drives. Pre-treat, wash with the surface cleaner, lance the edges and corners, then clear up. Block paving takes longer because the joints need re-sanding with kiln dried sand once the surface has dried, on a wet week that can mean a short return visit.

Do you re-sand block paving after cleaning?

Yes, always, with kiln dried sand, and it is in the price. Clean bricks with washed-out joints look worse than dirty bricks with full joints, and empty joints let the weeds straight back in. If you want the drive sealed afterwards we will price that separately and tell you straight if your paving does not need it.

Can you clean my drive during the hosepipe ban?

Yes. There is no hosepipe ban in Redhill: SES Water, which supplies RH1, has no ban in place as of 2 July 2026, and the nearest live ban is South East Water's in Kent. We carry our own tanked water on bigger jobs anyway, so your mains supply is not doing the heavy lifting.
