How much is driveway cleaning in Banstead, and can you come today?

The short answer: driveway cleaning in Banstead (SM7) starts at £4 per square metre for tarmac and concrete, £5 for block paving, £80 minimum. A typical SM7 double drive is around £200 to £280, and the bigger 60 to 90m² drives in Kingswood and Tadworth usually run £300 to £450. Same Day JetWash is based in Redhill, eight miles south, same-day and next-day slots, callback inside 2 hours. Call 01737 652 515.

Driveway cleaning means pre-treating the moss and algae, machine-washing the whole surface with a rotary surface cleaner, hand-lancing the edges, then dealing with the aftermath: weeds out, joints re-sanded with kiln dried sand on block paving, slurry cleared, everything bagged and taken away. On a Banstead drive that last part matters more than most, because the drives here are bigger and the mess is proportionally bigger too.

Key facts: driveway cleaning in Banstead (SM7)

  • From £4/m² for tarmac and concrete, from £5/m² for block paving, in line with our published price list. £80 minimum charge.
  • Re-sanding with kiln dried sand is included on every block paving clean, never an extra.
  • Banstead drives skew large: 60 to 90m² is common in Kingswood, Tadworth and Nork, so totals run higher than a small RH1 forecourt even at the same rate.
  • SM7 sits on free-draining North Downs Chalk, mapped by the British Geological Survey[1]. The ground drains fast, but heavy tree cover keeps shaded drives damp enough for moss to keep returning.
  • No hosepipe ban here: Banstead has no restriction in place as of 9 July 2026, and the nearest live ban (South East Water's) covers Kent only.

Driveway cleaning prices in Banstead (SM7)

Real ranges, not a “from £19” teaser that becomes £120 on the doorstep. Nobody else in Banstead publishes prices at all, the local names are all quote-only, so here is exactly what we charge, built from the same rates as our pricing page and cost calculator, applied to the drive sizes we actually see across SM7 and KT20.

Drive size Tarmac / concrete Block paving (re-sand included) Typical SM7 example
Single drive (20–30m²)£80–£120£100–£150Terraced forecourts off Banstead Village High Street
Double drive (40–50m²)£160–£200£200–£280Nork semis around Warren Road and Nork Way
Large / detached (60–90m²)£280–£380£300–£450Kingswood Warren and Tadworth detached plots

£80 minimum on every job. Heavy moss, oil staining or years without a clean can add up to 50% for the extra pre-treatment and time. On the biggest Kingswood and Tadworth drives the per-m² rate eases, ask when we quote. Want it pinned down now? Try the cost calculator or send a photo.

Block paving, resin, tarmac and concrete drives in Banstead

Banstead sits on top of the North Downs, on the Upper Cretaceous Chalk that the British Geological Survey maps across the whole SM7 ridge[1]. Chalk is highly permeable, so rainwater drains straight down rather than pooling under a sub-base. That is good news for the paving structure: SM7 drives rarely show the water-lift problems you get on the clay further north. The catch is the tree cover. Banstead Woods, the Kingswood Warren treelines and the mature gardens through Nork and Chipstead throw deep shade, and shade plus a bit of diffuse damp is all algae and moss need. What that means surface by surface:

  • Block paving on the estates. Nork, Kingswood and the newer SM7 developments are wall-to-wall block paving. The joints are the weak point: sand washes out, weeds and moss move in, and the whole drive looks tired even where the bricks are sound. We wash, kill the weeds and re-sand with kiln dried sand as standard. More on the surface itself on our block paving cleaning page.
  • Big resin-bound drives. A lot of the Kingswood and Tadworth rebuilds went resin. It cleans up beautifully but hates high pressure up close, the binder can scar, so we run lower pressure and more chemistry. We price these on a photo or a quick look first.
  • Concrete and tarmac on the older streets. The village fabric around Banstead High Street and parts of Woodmansterne still has concrete and tarmac forecourts. Quick jobs, often near the £80 minimum, and the jump from grey-black to original colour is startling.
  • The shaded half greens first. On almost every SM7 drive the north-facing or tree-shaded side is visibly worse than the sunny side. That is the chalk-drains-fast, trees-hold-damp trade-off in one photo. It all comes off the same, and an annual biocide keeps the shaded band from racing back.

What’s included in a Banstead driveway clean

  1. Walk the drive first. Surface, condition, drainage, oil stains, any sunken bays or loose blocks. On block paving we check whether the paving is on a Marshalls Register or similar warranty, because that dictates pressure and technique[2]. If a repair is what you actually need, we say so rather than wash over it.
  2. Pre-treat. Moss and algae get a biocide treatment before the water goes anywhere near it. The dilution and dwell time do the work, not brute pressure. On the shaded SM7 drives this is the step that actually earns its keep.
  3. Machine wash. Rotary surface cleaner across the field of the drive for an even, stripe-free finish, then the lance for edges, corners and the awkward bits by the garage. Medium pressure at an oblique angle on block paving, in line with Marshalls guidance[2], never a turbo nozzle that can void the warranty.
  4. Weeds and joints. Weeds cleared from the joints, and on block paving we re-sand with kiln dried sand once the surface has dried off. Included, always.
  5. Tidy up. Slurry and debris bagged and taken away, paths and gullies rinsed down. We leave the drive clean and the rest of the frontage no worse than we found it.

Optional extras, priced honestly: oil stain treatment (some stains never fully lift from concrete, we’ll tell you before we start, and our moss removal guide covers the recurring-moss side in detail) and sealing after the clean. Plenty of Surrey drives don’t need sealing at all, so we’ll only quote it where it earns its keep.

Streets and neighbourhoods we cover

All of Banstead and the villages around it: Banstead Village, Nork (west of the A217, around Nork Way and Warren Road), Kingswood and Kingswood Warren (east of the A217, into KT20), Tadworth, Burgh Heath, Woodmansterne, Chipstead and Tattenhams, out to Epsom Downs. See everything we clean in Banstead. Those big two-storey Kingswood and Tadworth houses also mean it is worth bundling while we’re on site: our poles are already up, so fascia, soffit and cladding cleaning in Banstead on the same visit is a lot cheaper than a second callout. Next door, Reigate and the rest of Surrey within 20 miles of Redhill.

Why driveway quotes vary in Banstead

Two SM7 drives the same size can be £150 apart, and the reasons are boring but real: surface type, condition, access, drive size and whether re-sanding or sealing is in scope. Banstead skews the totals up simply because the drives are bigger, a 90m² Kingswood drive is three times the area of a small village forecourt, so at the same fair per-m² rate it costs three times as much. Anyone quoting a flat “any driveway £60” is cutting a corner, and we’ve set out the full cost build-up in our UK driveway cleaning cost guide. If your drive only needs doing every couple of years, that’s what we’ll tell you.

Can you do same-day driveway cleaning in Banstead?

Often, yes. We’re a 2-man crew based in Redhill, eight miles south over the Downs, not a national platform sub-contracting your job to whoever’s free that day. Selling the house and the agent’s photographer is booked for Friday? Call early and there’s a fair chance we fit you in today or tomorrow. On the bigger Kingswood and Tadworth drives we’ll block out the time properly so it’s done in one go. Worst case, callback within two hours, Sundays included. Call 01737 652 515 and we’ll tell you honestly what we can do.

Banstead driveway cleaning FAQs

Most-asked questions from SM7 customers.

How much does driveway cleaning cost in Banstead?

Tarmac and concrete drives are from £4 per square metre and block paving is from £5, with an £80 minimum charge. A typical SM7 double drive lands around £200 to £280, and the larger 60 to 90 square metre drives common in Kingswood and Tadworth usually run £300 to £450. Re-sanding the joints is included on block paving, never an extra. Heavy moss can add up to 50%. Free quote, no obligation.

Do you cover Nork, Kingswood, Tadworth and Chipstead?

Yes, all of Banstead SM7 and the bordering KT20, plus the villages around it: Banstead Village, Nork, Kingswood, Burgh Heath, Tadworth, Woodmansterne, Chipstead and Tattenhams. We are based in Redhill, eight miles south over the North Downs, so SM7 is a short hop and we are up there most weeks.

Why does moss keep coming back on my Banstead driveway?

Banstead sits on free-draining chalk, so the surface dries quickly, but the town also has heavy mature tree cover from Banstead Woods and the Kingswood Warren treelines. Shaded, north-facing drives get enough diffuse damp to feed algae and moss even without standing water. That is why a shaded SM7 drive greens over faster than the sunny half. An annual biocide keeps it in check between deep cleans.

Can you clean a large Kingswood or Tadworth driveway in one visit?

Yes. We run a commercial rotary surface cleaner, so 60 to 100 square metre drives get done in a single visit rather than dragged over two days. Block paving needs the joints re-sanded once the surface has dried, so on a wet week that can mean a short return, but the wash itself is one trip.

Is there a hosepipe ban affecting driveway cleaning in Banstead?

No. There is no hosepipe ban in Banstead as of July 2026. The Reigate and Banstead area is largely supplied by Thames Water, which has no ban in place, and the nearest live restriction is South East Water's, which covers Kent only and does not reach Surrey. We also carry tanked water on bigger jobs, so your mains supply is not doing the heavy lifting.
